WHAT TO WEAR TO YOUR ENGAGEMENT SESSION – FOR HIM

You’ve probably seen the “What to wear to your engagement session – for Her,” and if you haven’t, you can find it here. I wanted to take some time and focus on the guys for this blog. I mean, they are also an important part of your engagement session.

Let’s get straight to the point here. There is nothing better than a man in a tailored suit. Your engagement session is the day to go all out and either pull out that suit in the back of your closet or go out and get one. You DO NOT have to spend hundreds of dollars! There are some great options for men’s suits out there that are off the rack and affordable. You don’t have to go with “black-tie fancy!” Sometimes just adding in a blazer is enough to really take it to the next level. Nordstrom is a great place to start looking for some ideas.

Guys, something sharp and put together will make your fiance swoon, and who doesn’t fancy that?

Colors for him…

Solid shades of neutrals, greys, and navy are always classic. They tend to compliment well and will give you that timeless look that never goes out of style! Adding a jacket or sport coat is always a win, and you also can’t go wrong with layering. (Plus, when you take off a layer, you have an entirely different outfit)!

Tips for him…

  • Dressing up is ALWAYS a good idea!
  • Think of adding in a blazer or a suit.
  • Watches, bow-ties, and other personalized accessories can really add personality.
  • Try to leave the shorts, t-shirts, and slip flops at home, unless you want to go for a casual look as your second outfit.

Compliment one another without being too “matchy-matchy.”

The fad of wearing matching white shirts and jeans is gone (thank goodness)! What I suggest is that one if you choose an outfit, and then build the other outfit to compliment it. So basically, if the woman is wearing a ball gown, the guys shouldn’t be wearing ripped jeans and a band tee. You get where I’m going with this.

Fun tip at the end of the session…

Plan a fun night out and celebrate each other with a romantic dinner! Enjoy being dressed up and make an entire evening out of it! You’ll be glad you did!

Feel free to email me any questions you may have about your outfits ahead of your session! I love being involved in the planning process with my sweet couples!
