I recently had the opportunity to visit the Horton Grand Hotel wedding spaces. I had always passed by, but I got to go inside and find out more about this beautiful hotel this time. The Horton Grand Hotel wedding venue is so unique! It was fascinating to hear all the history of this hotel.
There is so much history with the Horton Grand Hotel. The hotel is a restoration of two separate historic hotels: The Grand Horton Hotel and the Brooklyn-Kahle Saddlery Hotel. The two hotels were built in the mid-1880s and were initially located where Horton Plaza mall now stands. The Horton Grand – on the edge of San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter – is the oldest hotel in San Diego.
Since 1887, the charming Horton Grand Hotel has welcomed couples from around the world. With beautiful, historic architecture and a neutral color palette, their unique and romantic space can lend itself to any wedding style. The Horton Grand Hotel is a Victorian-style hotel conveniently located in the Gaslamp district in downtown San Diego. When you step inside, you can experience the timeless Victorian charm of the 1880s. The Horton Grand Hotel wedding venue offers a few different choices of spaces for your wedding. The Courtyard, Copley Alley, Regency Ballroom, Regal Ballroom, and the Urban Garage- their newest addition.
The Courtyard is ideal for a classic ceremony and reception. This space has a guest capacity of 130 guests seated. During the walkthrough, they showed me how they utilize their other spaces for cocktail hour while the ceremony area gets shifted to a reception area. This courtyard is so charming and the perfect spot for a classic and romantic wedding.
Beginning with your vision, the devoted sales managers work alongside their innovative culinary team to produce an elevated, perfectly tailored wedding. Custom menus can be created to include personal aspects that bring joy to the couple and those celebrating with them.
To make each of their couples feel welcome while planning their wedding day, the Horton Grand Hotel has a partnership with Behind the Scenes Catering & Events. This means that Behind the Scenes Catering & Events manages Salt & Whiskey (the restaurant in the hotel), each of the venue spaces within the hotel, and all of the hotel’s food and beverage. This partnership ensures that they can provide you with a package for the venue that includes catering and a few other things to make your wedding planning a smooth experience.
All of their wedding packages include:
Within all of the packages they offer, they also have three tiers of menus you can choose from. This is to better accommodate couples based on their wants, needs, and budget. They also have an option to have an upgraded bar experience and menu enhancements.
To help you feel confident in your vendor search, the team at the Horton Grand has vetted a list of experienced vendors with different styles and price points. Each vendor on this exclusive list is a seasoned professional and knows how to bring your wedding vision to life.
When planning your Horton Grand Hotel wedding, you are required to have a wedding planner or coordinator, which I too stand by this. Your planner is one of the most important vendors for you to have on your wedding day. There is a lot of time and work they put in before your wedding and on the day of your wedding, to ensure that everything runs smooth and you are taken care of. Your wedding planner or coordinator will also be the main point of contact for all the other vendors on your wedding day. Having a planner or coordinator ensures that you, your family, and friends can relax and enjoy the day free of stress and worry.
