As a San Diego wedding photographer, I am frequently asked to describe my photography and working style. As a lover of imaginative creativity and all things aesthetic; I would describe my photography style as a hybrid of fine art and lifestyle photography. I take pride in elevating my subjects to the highest pedestals in order to provide them with fine art photographs that they will want to display in their homes; while also capturing candid moments throughout the day authentically.
Artistic Style
When it comes to editing, I’ve always been drawn to more of a light and airy style. I strive to have all of my photographs convey a whimsical and romantic atmosphere while remaining timeless and elegant. I love capturing the moments of the day. Using a documentary style, while also delivering fine art style photographs that look like they belong on the cover of Vogue Weddings.
Fine Art Photography
Fine art photography is defined as “from still life to landscapes and even portraits, the photographer defines this type of photographic expression.” According to Adobe, “subjects and shots pursued solely for the artistic purpose of the photographer are what puts these photos in the fine art category.” However, this is where my photography style deviates slightly from the traditional definition of fine art wedding photography. With each photo, I focus on aspects of the day that will have my clients falling in love with their wedding day all over again. I always consider a variety of factors that will affect the final outcome of the photo; such as composition and lighting.
Lifestyle Photography
Despite the fact that I deliver fine art photographs, I always approach the day with a relaxed and calm energy. This is to ensure that you and your loved ones can move freely throughout the day; resulting in photos that capture the true spirit of the occasion. Capturing those moments for what they are is an art form in and of itself – knowing when to look for those moments, when to step back and let them happen naturally, and when to capture them exactly as they are. Those instances are the moments that result in the priceless images filled with all of the emotion from the day. I’ve always been a natural observer of what’s going on around me and love to capture it in an authentic way; but I’m also capable of taking command and organizing your wedding party and family, for the more traditional, posed photos.
Detail Oriented
My keen attention to detail distinguishes my photography style from that of other San Diego wedding photographer. There are so many details to photograph throughout the day, from the bride’s jewelry to the flowers in her bouquet to the styling of the invitation suite for a flat lay photo. With so many details to think about throughout the day, it’s easy for some photographers to overlook them. However, all of these minor details are critical to telling the couple’s wedding day story. These are the details that the couple meticulously selected. Thanks to photography, these flowers, and other details will live on indefinitely!
