Wedding days are my absolute favorite! The excitement, the hustle, and bustle, the love that’s so electric…it’s all just…FUN! Wedding mornings are the best, but what really makes it all come together are the wedding details!
Being a seasoned wedding photographer is a literal dream come true when I get to witness love in its purest form.
I feel so grateful to spend my time with amazing couples. In my years of experience, I’ve come to realize there are a few ways to reduce the stress on your wedding day, so I just have to share! Because let’s be real, the photography should be the least of your worries on the biggest day of your life!
Can I get an amen?!
I have you, covered friends. Here are my tips for scheduling in those timeless details on your big day!
Wedding details are SUCH an important part of the day! Why? Because they will bring you back to those little quiet moments that trigger floods of the best memories. The shoes you searched all over town for. Your grandmother’s pearls that she had been saving since the day you were born. Or that sweet note your dad gave before you both broke out in ugly tears! It’s those photos that make your album come together and make you beam from ear to ear…and all the laughs and tears in between.
Small wedding details make the entire day come together in ways I can’t describe. I get such joy out of planning, rearranging, and capturing those little intricacies that make your day so unique and perfect. Can you tell I’m kinda obsessed?!
So while details only take about 45 minutes to photograph (like rings, invitations, flowers, shoes, bowties, cufflinks, etc), finding the time can be challenging. That’s why I always try to encourage my couples to gather all of their details in one place so they can hand them over easily, and let me work my magic. It may seem like more time than you’d expect, but finding the perfect light, arranging the details to make them pop, and getting those incredible ring shots does take some attention to detail.
Can I just tell you how much I love capturing my bride’s with their best girlfriends? It makes my heart giddy! I KNOW how much those girls have been through with you. To see them (and you) so happy makes MY soul fill with joy!
Taking the final “getting ready” shot and images of you and your bridesmaids can take another 60 minutes or so. This includes final makeup and hair, you just hanging with your besties, getting dressed (in those sometimes tricky dresses), and maybe a champagne toast (my fave)!
It’s really a good idea to account for that extra 1.5 – 2 hours in your timeline. I always recommend blocking that time off in your formal plan, to make sure that this time isn’t rushed. Let’s be honest, this is the time to get your jitters out, hang with your friends, and have it documented in a relaxed and beautiful way.
What I know for sure, is that when my couples add an extra two hours of coverage, they are so thankful. Those sweet memories captured will mean a lot to you when you look back (I promise)! Time flies SO FAST on your big day!
I am SO excited to work with you! I can’t wait to capture those little things that remind you of the big thing…LOVE.
